Why visual thinking?
Representing our environment and experience visually in images, stories and metaphors helps us to make sense of the world and how things work. Visual mapping — combining text, simple pictures, colour and graphic metaphors — integrates both our analytical and our creative capacities. And it’s fun.
Visual tools range from simple diagrams, idea trees and templates to complex visual maps of strategies and systems. They create connections, uncover patterns and reveal the bigger picture.
For more on the power of these methods, check out my recent blog post for the SDC Learning and Networking group in Bern. And an interview with me published by Liz Wilson, copywriter, editor and content strategist.
